Baseball Brawl Leads to Player Suspensions

The Panamanian Baseball Federation (Fedebeis) announced temporary suspensions of two matches for the seven players and coaching staff involved in the brawl at the "Flaco Bala" Hernández stadium. Sanctions were imposed on players from the province of Veraguas: Abdiel Ramos (director), Erick Murdock (#15), Ricardo Corcho (#22), Alfredo Aldarete (#41), and Jesús Aizprúa (#1), as well as players from the province of Los Santos: José Gómez (#23) and Ismael Velasco (#96). The Technical Commission will also evaluate additional sanctions under articles 89, 90, and 91 of the official regulation, with a final decision to be made within 48 hours. Minister of Security Frank Ábrego stated that there were no police officers officially present at the venue because the federation did not request them. He emphasized that the situation does not correspond to the truth and presented the testimony of baseball player Javier Reina, who suffered a double fracture in his right hand during the incident. The defense claims that videos from different angles show Aizprúa hitting the fence with the bat to separate two people, while another video shows the impact on Reina. Defender Mario Luis Delgado reported that Reina entered the stands to defend his 62-year-old father, who was allegedly being assaulted by a player from Los Santos. In this regard, a criminal complaint has already been filed against the player from Los Santos for assaulting an elderly person.
